Electrolux Stacked Washer + Dryer: Service & Install
Appliance: Electrolux stacked washer + dryer
Location: Long Island, NY

Stacked laundry units are space-savers but they make every repair harder — you're working in a closet, the dryer sits on top of the washer, and you can't pull either one out without disconnecting the other. This Electrolux stacked unit needed both a service repair and a clean re-install after the previous unit was pulled.
1. The problem
- ·Tight laundry closet — no room to slide either unit out without removing both.
- ·Washer drain pump making intermittent noise; dryer venting was undersized for the run.
- ·Previous installer had used the wrong type of dryer transition hose (plastic, in a stacked unit — fire risk).
2. Diagnosis
- ·Confirmed drain pump bearing wear via stethoscope on the housing during spin cycle.
- ·Measured dryer vent run — over the manufacturer-recommended length without a booster fan.
- ·Inspected gas / electric connections (this was an electric unit) and verified leveling on the existing pedestal.
3. The fix
- ·Pulled the dryer down using a two-person lift (these stacked units are heavy — don't try alone).
- ·Replaced the washer drain pump with the updated Electrolux part.
- ·Re-routed the dryer vent using rigid metal duct (code-compliant) and cleaned the full vent run.
- ·Re-stacked, leveled, and ran a full test cycle on both units.
Tip from Rodney
If you have a stacked Electrolux, LG, or Samsung laundry unit on Long Island, the most common failure is the drain pump on the washer (~year 5-7) and the lint accumulating in the run between the dryer and the wall. Both are preventable with annual service.
